Science fiction author Hannu Rajaniemi describes how adoption of the telegraph and the advent of Spiritualism were simultaneous and intermingled in the late 19th century.
In this talk "Science and the Afterlife at the Turn of the 20th Century," Rajaniemi discusses the real life late Victorian attempts to map the afterlife which inspired his latest novel "Summerland." He spoke at The Interval in San Francisco in July of 02018.
